California Special, a rare factory limited Edition Mustang.
Back in 1968, an influential group of West Coast dealers convinced Ford to produce a limited-production Mustang with unique styling cues borrowed from Shelby Mustangs. Called the California Special, it was built with help from Shelby and sold exclusively in the western United States. Ford initially planned to create 5,000 of these vehicles in a 5.5 month stretch from February to August 1968. However, only 4,188 were produced. 1,350 cars are probably left in existence as of today.
The California Special sports the qualities of both a Mustang coupe and a Shelby GT, making it one of the most appreciated classic Mustangs.
This 1968 Ford Mustang CS – California Special is restored and finished in classic Candy Apple Red with Black Interior and black vinyl top. It comes with a Matching Numbers 289 ci Engine, Power Steering, Tilt-Away Steering Wheel, Automatic Transmission, Console. Comes with Marti Report and copy of the original Invoice from Ford.
These rare and sought after California Special's seldom come on the market in this condition. Very nice running and driving car, always a head-turner.
